This is the second of three blog posts detailing my exciting trip around Europe, with Contiki.
So, after spending 5 days in France, we were headed towards Italy! We were visiting the beautiful city of Florence, which is the capital of the Tuscany region of Italy. While in Florence, we got to see one of the Wonders of the World, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We also visited the Piazzale Michelangelo, which is a square with a panoromic view of Italy. To end our first day in Italy, we ate some authentic Spaghetti, while being serenaded by some extremely talented street artists. Exhausted, we headed back to our campsite, where we were staying while in Italy.
We started our day 2 in Italy with a leather workshop, where we learned to determine fake leather from real leather. After this, we had a yummy brunch of Nutella waffles and their famous and highly recommended Espresso. After we got done with brunch, we met up with the rest of the members of Contiki and went on a walk-in tour of the city. We had a really friendly guide, who took us to all these amazing places and we learnt the history behind it. Afterwords, we ate some pizza and called it a day.
On our day 3 in Italy, we went to the beautiful city of Rome. Rome is known worldwide, for it's intricate architecture and rich history. We got to experience this first hand. Once there, we visited the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Colosseum!
For day 4, we headed towards Vatican City. This relegious destination had a lot for us to see and learn. It is also home to the world's biggest church, which we got to visit. After having a hearty lunch of pasta, we went back to the Trevi Fountain, because I felt it was too beautiful to only see once. At the Trevi Fountain, we had their famous Gelato, because well, one can never have too much Gelato.
Our final stop in Italy was the romantic city of Venice. We roamed around the streets of the city and got to go on a Gondola Ride! To end the stay in Italy on a perfect note, we took a cruise on our way back to the campsite.
Italy was absolutely breathtaking and my favourite destination on this adventure.
