It’s a fine summer day and I’m feeling adventurous! For a long time I really wanted to get my hair coloured, but going to the salon just wasn’t pocket friendly for me, especially since my hair falls down to my waist so that’s 2-5k gone easily. So, I thought I’d experiment with colouring my hair at home but I didn’t want to sacrifice on the quality of the products used at salons, quite a fix I tell ya.
After thoroughly searching online (and not finding anything worthy), I came across the jackpot! BBLUNT Salon Secret High Shine Crème Hair Colour on nykaa.com. Much to my delight, I was sent a box by the brand to try, giving me an exclusive trial of the product before it’s actually launched in the market!
When I read the product details, I was impressed. No ammonia (that means my tresses remain stress free!), and it came with a first-of-its-kind Shine Tonic that contains silk proteins, I was intrigued.
Each box of the BBLUNT Salon Secret High Shine Crème Hair Colour comes with the following contents:
⦠Salon Secret Colourant: 1 Tube of Crème colourant – 50 gms
⦠Salon Secret Developer: 1 Tube of Developer – 50 gms
⦠Shine Tonic: 1 Tube of Shine Tonic – 8 ml
⦠Gloves: 1 Pair of disposable gloves
⦠1 Instruction leaflet
Using the product was a cake walk, as it’s an at-home hair-colour which gives your hair a salon-like treatment. I’m using the hair-colour on my sister, Deeksha, to show you guys the how to go about using the product, and also because she’d been wanting to get coloured again for a while now. The hair-colour is available in 7 gorgeous shades, namely, Black, Chocolate, Blueberry, Honey, Wine, Mahogany and Coffee. I went for the Coffee (natural brown) shade as it’s subtle and the safest to experiment with!
Here’s a before picture of Deeksha’s hair where her hair is a light-brown shade and has slight greys. Let me point out that this rich colour provides 100% grey coverage. So the more the percentage of greys, the better your hair will catch the colour.
Important tip– Skin hypersensitivity test must be done 48 hours before each application, even if you have already used a hair colour previously.
Here’s how we used it –
The gloves came included in the box so I didn’t have any extra work.
I poured out the developer, colourant and the shine tonic tube in a bowl and mixed it well till the mixture was smooth and creamy. Its non-drip formula makes it even easier to use.
Isn’t the shine tonic tube super-cute?
One box is enough for root touch-ups and for global-colouring if you have short-medium hair, but you might need 2 boxes if your hair length is medium to long.
Once the mixture is ready, creamy and without lumps, you can immediately start applying it.
We went for global-colouring for an all over colour and let the mixture sit on her hair for 30-45 minutes.
Next and the last step is to just wash it off using your shampoo & conditioner.
In Deeksha’s own words, after washing, her hair did not feel dry or damaged (one of her MANY concerns), it felt soft and smooth! That too, after colour!
I was curious about the unique shine tonic and I was NOT disappointed, as it not only gave her hair a gorgeous tint of the shade but also left her hair with an epic shine!
And now, the final verdict. How did it look? Well, it looked better than it felt. The colour was perfect, in accordance to what was advertised on the box and her hair looked glossy.
Here’s a picture of her hair post the application:
No wonder it’s called the BBLUNT Salon Secret High Shine Crème Hair Colour, because after seeing the results, I’m sure all the salons would want to keep this hair colour a secret from us!
